Okay, I've Been Paying Attention and I Have Opinions

Every summer there are the spots everybody talks about — and then there are the spots where everybody actually ends up. They aren't always the same list, and I feel like somebody needs to say that out loud.

So here's mine.

Carrigan Farms Quarry

Carrigan Farms Quarry is having a moment right now, and honestly it deserves it. About 30 minutes north of Charlotte, spring-fed, 25 feet deep, cliff jumping ledges, a rope swing — it's the kind of place you show up for an hour and leave three hours later wondering where the afternoon went.

Get there on a Saturday morning before it fills up, bring your own snacks because the concession situation is what it is, and just plan to stay longer than you meant to. You'll thank yourself.

Condado Tacos near Waverly

For an actual evening out, Condado Tacos near Waverly is my current answer to everything. Build-your-own tacos, good lighting, real shade, the kind of place where you order one round and end up staying for two hours.

I've recommended it three times this week alone. You might even catch a firefly on the patio if you time it right.

Topgolf Charlotte Southwest

If you want something that's genuinely fun for everyone — including adults who claim they don't golf — Topgolf Charlotte Southwest is it. I'll be honest, I can't golf either. But the games make it a whole different experience.

It's one of the best things about living near Charlotte and a lot of people sleep on it every single summer. Don't be that person again this year.

Superica

And if nobody has told you about Superica yet, consider this your introduction. It's Tex-Mex done right — and coming from a Texas girl, that is not something I say lightly.

Low key, never feels overcrowded, and honestly one of my favorite things about this area. Get the fajitas. That's not a suggestion, that's an instruction.

One Last Thing

If you don't have a fire pit situation figured out yet — this is your sign. Fireflies, s'mores, late nights outside with good people. That's the whole summer right there and it doesn't cost much at all.
